FAQ
Where to buy tickets?
You can buy your tickets at the online ticket shop.
If you're a volunteer and tickets run out - don't worry, your team lead can probably get you a voucher which entitles you to buying a ticket.
How can I pay?
We support the following payment methods:
- Bank transfer (any SEPA country)
- iDeal (Netherlands)
- Giropay (Germany)
- Bancontact (Belgium)
- EPS (Austria)
- Credit Card (Worldwide)
- PayPal (worldwide, up till February)
If you want to help us save on fees, please consider using SEPA bank transfers. But please select the payment method that is most convenient for you.
Why no cryptocurrencies?
We see some advantages and disadvantages of cryptocurrencies and could technically offer them as a payment option. However we have decided to wait at this point due to the administrative complexity they introduce.
What if I want to stay anonymous?
We respect that some participants would like to stay anonymous. In this case, we recommend you find someone you trust and have them buy the tickets using an anonymous email address during checkout. That way, it’s not even visible to us that tickets have been bought anonymously. If this does not work for you, contact Team:Tickets&entrance (tickets@why2025.org) and we’ll try to set something up.
In the future, we would like to encourage hackerspaces to distribute tickets for cash purchases. If your hackerspace wants to participate, please get in touch.
What if I can’t afford it right now?
No worries! We understand that many people are in tricky financial situations right now, for example, due to low incomes or other financial hardships.
We have to sell most tickets at full price. However, we have a limited number of tickets available for people who cannot afford them. If you doubt you are in this category or want to get one of your friends tickets, contact friends@why2025.org, and we can work something out!
Why are the ticket prices so close to the MCH2022 tickets?
There were significant uncertainties for 2022. Inflation went up significantly (double digits), and we heard the cry that tickets had become too expensive.
The cost was critically evaluated, and we think we can deliver a similar event without increasing prices with inflation. Besides that, the finances were reevaluated, and some of the extras outside the base ticket reflect their real cost.
How many tickets will be available?
We are currently aiming at 3500 visitors.
Are there day tickets available?
Sorry, no. Our event is about getting to know and building a community. That doesn’t happen in a single afternoon and is the sole reason you should attend the entire experience.
Does this mean there will be no voucher system for WHY2025?
No. We did not require it for SHA2017 and MCH2022 either.
When do I get my actual ticket?
There will be PDF tickets for download and use on the field, sent out before the event.
What if I want to cancel?
If the event is not cancelled but you can attend the event, for example because of travel restrictions or personal health concerns, you can exchange your ticket with others at the Ticket Exchange page.
Generally, we don’t cancel tickets, but if exceptional circumstances are out of everybody’s control, you could try your luck at tickets@why2025.org.
Will there be gift cards for WHY2025?
Yes, there are gift cards in the ticket shop.
I ordered the wrong size $MerchItem!
As long as you just want to change the size of the product you’ve ordered, you can do so yourself. Follow the link to your order confirmation - at the bottom of the page you’ll find an option to change your order.
If you want to swap out an item for a different one, don’t hesitate to e-mail us.
Is it possible to come by car or camper?
Yes, however, you need a corresponding ticket. There are parking facilities near the field for cars and limited camper spots on the terrain.
A ticket to park a car costs €42, and camper spots cost €128. The spots are expected to sell out quickly, but there will be a waiting list you can join.
Or by boat?
There is no harbour on the terrain, and there are no finalized plans for the nearby canal at the moment.
If I have any further questions regarding ticket sales or need support, who do I contact?
Please e-mail tickets@why2025.org, and we’ll get back to you asap.
